SkyTech's 'Martin Lovell' Martin is the Managing Director and Chief Engineer for SkyTech Helicopters. He remains as passionate today as he ever was about helicopters and the aviation industry.

Following completion of his apprenticeship, considerable knowledge and experience at all levels was gained on the Hughes/MD and Hughes/Schweizer products and latterly the Bell 206 type plus the necessary qualifications to enable SkyTech to be formed in 2003. He works with a great team who support and promote the SkyTech ethos. Martin’s passion for aviation flying originally started when he won a scholarship to fly fixed wing aircraft. Through maintaining helicopters, he realised the versatility of being able to fly from A to B and gained his helicopter pilot licence in 1989. Having now flown over 1500 hours with most of this for aircraft positioning, tracking / balancing purposes, pre-purchase and post maintenance air tests. He has over 1200 hrs on the MD 500 alone, other types flown being the Hughes / Schweizer 300, Bell 206 and MD520 / MD600 Notar types. Flying in the USA and most European countries have regularly occurs with recent ferry flights following aircraft purchases from Latvia (13hrs), Lapland (11hrs) and Austria (5.5 hrs) when bad weather on all trips. When he is not working on or flying in helicopters (quite a rare occasion), it’s likely that he will be following any of his other favorite pastimes, hot air ballooning (of which he also has a licence), following Northampton Saints rugby team and all forms of motorsport. Martin has a helicopter display licence and the aircraft shown below (G-RISK) was flown at the Sywell Airshow 2008 where all raised funds were donated to the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
